For Gerry Santos, both passion and ice run through his veins. He’s the president and Chief Executive Officer of Mr. Freeze, the largest manufacturer of tube ice in the country. But before the growth and success, he began as a youngster who was once mentored by his father, who was also an ice distributor.
He started Mr. Freeze in 2005 when he built a 15-ton ice plant in Quezon City. There were many challenges along the way, especially when competing against the old players in the industry with bigger capacities.
Now, he is a successful businessman with over 20 years of experience under his belt. He already has six branches and is eyeing on expanding the business. He also co-owns BLK 513, a popular yogurt brand with 10 branches in Metro Manila. Gerry Santos advises others to start a business they’re passionate about. “With a good mission and vision, everything will follow. I do my business now not just to make money, but I do it with a purpose,” he added.
He considers having a greater purpose as an upside to every business, especially when the community around grows.
“I believe one downside can be greed, especially if you choose to business solely for money,” he noted.
Like a good businessman, Santos is smart with his investments. Another wise venture for him is the booming real estate industry, with the importance of choosing a trusted developer.
His latest trophy property, Aruga Resort and Residences - Mactan, was a choice made based on his trust for Rockwell Land Corporation. He has been a part of the Rockwell community since 2014, living in Rockwell Center, Makati and also owning several units for investment.
