Tepora holds 1st promotion

-

Though being a full-time boxer is still his main focus, interim World Boxing Association (WBA) featherweight king Jhack Tepora tried out the role of being a promoter after staging his first amateur boxing show, “Sinumbagay sa Tiwasan,” last Oct. 26 at the Tiwasan basketball court.

“This is to keep the kids away from vices. Instead of them going into vices, it’s better for them to do boxing. They can help their parents and keep healthy,” said Tepora, who started boxing at eight years old.

Tepora’s first promotion is in partnership with Liloan Mayor Duke Frasco and sponsored by Titay’s.

“I’m happy. I didn’t expect my first promotion to be this successful. Duke Frasco, the former mayor of Liloan, has a huge trust in me and poured out a lot of support,” said the 23-year-old Tepora. “I didn’t expect that there would be a lot of people that would watch it. The basketball gym was packed.”

The main event featured Tepora’s 10-year-old nephew, Adrian Jhell Tepora, winning by decision over Joshua Batiller in the 23 KG division.

Trishia Mae Llamas beat Patricia Sumalinog by decision in the main supporting bout.

In the undercard, Kyl Sumalinofg, Alex del Rio, Ramil Mangilimutan, Yan-Yan Torres, JM Andrejas, Cristian Balunan, Kyle Delara, Archo Suan, Angelus Pilapil, Rodel Mahinay, Marvin Birao, Vincent Unidos, Moymoy Anoos and Jim Loyd Anoos all won by decision. /
