2 Cebuanos join 160K ultra marathon
Cebu’s ultramarathoners Desidirio “Sano” Engbino and Preciousa Sanchez of Spectrum Runners Club will flex their muscles in the Northwest 160K Ultramarathon on Nov. 24 to 25 in Cebu.
The 160-kilometer race is part of the preparation for Engbino and Sanchez on their return to the Bataan Death March (BDM) 102K Ultramarathon in January next year. Engbino and Sanchez won the men’s and women’s BDM titles last year.
“They want to defend their crown in BDM, which is the most prestigious ultramarathon in the Philippines. The 160K race on Nov. 24 to 25 is part of their preparation,” said Spectrum Runners president Gerry Mayo.
He added that Engbino is currently on an intensive training, covering a long distance run of 20 to 30 kilometers per day or a total of 180 kilometers per week.
“Precy (Sanchez) is also training and doing road runs in Consolacion. I haven’t monitored her exact mileage but her training is continuous,” he said. /
