Ranido bags se­niors ti­tle

Nestor Ranido of Su­gar­bowl Tenpin Bowl­ing As­so­ci­a­tion Inc. (St­bai-55AB) bagged the Se­niors Mas­ters’ ti­tle in the 10th Cetba-NBT Open Tenpin Bowl­ing Cham­pi­onships 2018 at the SM City Bowl­ing Cen­ter on Satur­day, Nov. 10.

The 26-hand­i­cap­per Ranido fin­ished with a to­tal score of 1,702 in the fi­nals en route to tak­ing the top honors of the 50-Above divi­sion and the P40,000 cash purse.

The top six male bowlers, top six fe­male keglers and the top 21 bowlers from the mixed pool made it to the fi­nals af­ter the qual­i­fy­ing rounds. The bowlers played an eight-game se­ries in the fi­nals with lane changes af­ter ev­ery two games.

Ranido played steady in the first four games in the fi­nals, scor­ing 181, 198, 198 and 183 to gain an early lead. Ranido hit his day’s best of 199 in the sixth game to add to his 181, 175 and 179 scores in the last four games.

Roger Asum­brado of Bowl­ing Tenpin As­so­ci­a­tion (BTA) was 31 pins be­hind and set­tled for sec­ond place and the P20,000 cash prize. The 27-hand­i­cap­per Asum­brado had scores of 184, 159, 171, 179, 181, 195, 193 and 193.

Ben Pacheco of Cavite South Bowl­ing As­so­ci­a­tion (Casba) snagged third place with a score of 1,670. Perla Pacheco also from Casba took fourth place with 1,626, and Ge­orge Manoso of Iloilo Tenpin Bowl­ing As­so­ci­a­tion (Itba-Gruppo) fired 1,622 to round up the Top 5.

The third to fifth plac­ers re­ceived P10,000, P5,000 and P3,000 in cash prizes, re­spec­tively.

Com­plet­ing the Top 10 were Luther Ta­paya (1,607) of BTA, Raquel Hayes (1,601) of Manila Tenpin Bowlers As­so­ci­a­tion (MTBA), Eric Bu­coy (1,599) of Cebu Tenpin Bowl­ing As­so­ci­a­tion (Cetba), Joseph Yu (1,593) also from Cetba and In­day Aguilar (1,593) of BTA.

Mean­while, the top bowlers will hunt for the cov­eted ti­tle in the Mas­ters’ Open fi­nals on Sun­day, Nov. 11. /
