Demand for minimum wage hike

Workers are asking for a P150 across-theboard increase in the minimum wage and their ground for that is the rise in the prices of basic goods. I think people should look into this argument because the prices of basic goods are affected by both the minimum wage and the cost of fuel.

If the wage hike demand is granted, only the minimum wage earners will be okay while the poor would have even less to eat because the prices of basic goods will also rise beyond their reach.

The number of the poor in this country are 10 times more than the number of minimum wage earners. We shouldn’t let the minimum wage earners dictate the cost of basic goods.

The trade unions are a big business and they make money off the sweat of the people in different trades. Trade workers shouldn’t be put in the same category as common labor.

The trade unions should be the one to train their members to preform their trade well so as to receive the maximum wage according to their skills.

Government officials need to wake up before it is too late. They should make laws that would control labor, labor unions and the price of basic goods.--Alfredo

Bleak Christmas?

Christmas is again near and I think we are in for a bleak Christmas because the prices of goods have risen. Only workers will be getting bonuses while ordinary people will not receive any.

But I like the resilience of Filipinos. No matter how bad the situation is they will always look for ways to be happy. Even then, I hope that things will get better soon. I hope God will be with us.--Desiderio
