IN THIS day and age, media organizations are finding ways to adapt to the changes brought by the emergence of new media. Here are SunStar programs and shows one shouldn’t miss.
NewsBits
A news webcast in Cebuano, NewsBits carries local, national, and international news and information.
The program started on January 8, 2018. It is an offshoot of the SunStar Pilipinas, which aired for more than a year. It goes live every 7:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, on Superbalita Cebu Facebook page.
A team of reporters, multimedia producers and editors is helping make it a regular thing.

Tambagi Ko, Noy Kulas Live!
Every Superbalita Cebu reader is familiar with the name “Noy Kulas.” Taking advantage of the number of followers that this advice column is bringing to SunStar, Superbalita Cebu came up with a live cast on its Facebook page.
It premiered on June 20, 2018. It is aired live every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. What’s unique with this program is that followers of Superbalita Cebu Facebook page can give their advice to letter senders while the messages are read live.
SunStar calls the hosts of this program as “Barbies of Noy Kulas.” Two letters are read every episode. Now on its 23rd episode, as of November 21, Tambagi Ko, Noy Kulas Live! continues to engage followers as it also gives away cellular load and limited edition SunStar merchandise.
Super Lami Extra
Another Facebook Live program of Superbalita Cebu, the Super Lami Extra features food sold at affordable prices. It was launched on March 13 and has since aired 10 episodes.
It is the upgraded version of the Super Lami of Superbalita Cebu print edition. It also has a print component published in Superbalita Cebu.
Super Lami Extra on Facebook is hosted by reporter Herty Lopez.
iSports Ta Bai!
iSports Ta Bai is a sports talk program aired live, either Tuesday or Thursday, at 2 p.m. on the Superbalita Cebu Facebook page.
Sports personalities like Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) legend and Philippine Sports Commissioner Ramon Fernandez, PBA star Dondon Hontiveros, and Cebu City Sports Commission Chairman Edward Hayco have so far graced the program.
Hot on Social
Hot on Social aims to deliver the latest and trending posts on social media -- from entertainment to something odd. It is aired every Saturday at 10 a.m. on SunStar Cebu Facebook page.
Hot on Social also features hyperlocal stories that communities can relate to.
SunStar Weather
This program aims to deliver weather updates in a more casual way. It provides weather-related information to the audience via SunStar Cebu Facebook page every Sunday for the Weekly Forecast, on Wednesdays for the Three-day Weather Forecast, and on Friday afternoon or evening for the Weekend Updates, complete with easy to understand graphics.
QuickTalk
Quicktalk airs at least once a week via SunStar Cebu Facebook page.
With inspirational and prominent guests coming over, QuickTalk serves as a platform for audiences to get to know more about the guest. The guests also get a chance to let loose and talk anything that’s light and fun.
These SunStar programs and shows were created to serve the public on a platform that would reach readers and viewers in and outside the Philippines. And as long as SunStar is committed to deliver “All [that] You Need To Know,” expect more innovations to spring up like mushrooms soon.
