CEPCA TO HOLD GRAND FINALS TODAY

National Master Rogelio Enriquez Jr. will try to defend his crown against 11 challengers in the Cebu Executives and Professionals Chess Association (Cepca) Grand Finals on Sunday, Dec. 9, at the Royale Cebu Estate in Consolacion, Cebu. All the qualifiers in the Cepca March Monthly Tournament will get a at snatching the crown from the University of San Jose-Recoletos chess coach Enriquez, who qualified in the March Monthly Tournament. Those who are playing in the grand finals are Eduardo Dela Torre (January), Mario Bustillo (February), Joselito Loques (April), Zilverstein Torres (May), Kiedd Salazar (June), Arnolito Cadiz ( July), Neal Amores (August), Richard Ouano (September), Percival Fiel (October), Edilberto Velarde Jr. (November) and Joe Atillo (December). The champion will win P5,000 in cash prizes, while the second to fifth placers will get P3,000, P2,000, P1,000 and P500 in cash prizes, respectively. Cepca will also hold a separate tournament for those who didn’t qualify, kiddies, ladies and Class B players. /
