Little Dominicans, parents enjoy first ever family run
Who says pre-schoolers can’t run? Well, students of Little Dominic Learning Center (LDLC) have recently proven they can. In a rare opportunity, the kiddos gave in to the challenge and crossed the finish line during the school’s first ever Family Fun Run.
Held simultaneously with its annual Family Day celebration, the run gathered more than a hundred registrants. The activity was a perfect opener of the event that also featured a food fair on the side with this year’s theme dubbed “Fun. Family. Fitness.”
Parents and guardians were caught in between conversations sharing bits that they didn’t have a hard time waking up their children as they were excited to get up and join the run. Most of the participants were already in the venue as early as 5 a.m.
Indeed, there shouldn’t be an underestimating of the kids’ running skills because it was more of a “better to start them young” mode with some of the adults struggling to catch up with their speed.
And before the race started, everyone was so game for the zumba warm-up. At exactly 6 a.m., pre-schoolers were on their feet and filled F.B. Cabahug St. in Mandaue City with their colorful flaglets and balloons.
As the little runners reached the u-turn slot, organizers provided them with bubbles to play. Much to their delight, each was also given the “Proud Finisher” medal as soon as they finished the race.
The almost 1k race was quite enough for the kids and adults to sweat out. LDLC 1st Family Fun Run had three categories -- Solo, Double, and Family. /
