‘The Quiet Strength of Women’

- MILA C. ESPINA mcespinternational@yahoo.com

The Zonta Club of Cebu 1 starts its 2019-2020 advocacy with an interesting seminar: “The Quiet Strength of Women: A Force to Change the World.”

Its ironic connotation should entice men and women to participate in the seminar, scheduled this Jan. 26, 1 to 7 p.m., at Maayo Hotel, Plaridel St., Mandaue City, Cebu. The event will focus on the many facets of women leadership and is co-sponsored by the TWCCTW (Together We Can Change the World).

Zontian Paulette Liu, event chairperson, said that the invited international speakers will speak about how women can do their share in molding a better world: Rebecca Morgan (Soft Powers: Maximizing Women’s Leadership Strength), Lynn Leahy (Building a Coaching Culture to Empower Women), Susan Friedmann (How to Gain Confidence and Increase Self-Esteem) and Rhonda Faught (Building Bridges and Breaking Barriers Female Style).

The Filipino culture and specifically, the family, always put the Man as the Head and the Woman as the Heart of a home. For years, leadership in society has been men’s domain. But times have changed. The liberated and empowered women have shared men’s quest to change the world. Somehow, the matriarchal influence has been in practice from the time Eve enticed Adam to bite the apple. And mankind was born.

In Cebu, particularly, persuasive women took the realm of political, business, judicial, religious and civic leadership locally and internationally. Men supported them. But let us not forget, the silent but influential women who opted to take the backseat, but worked as partners of men in upscaling the quality of life. As the saying goes, “the sound of silence gives lasting echoes!”

The participants of the seminar pay P300, which entitles them to a discounted rate for the lunch buffet.

See you there!
