Candidates to discuss how Cebu’s problems can be solved

-

Candidates for senator, congressman and local positions will be asked what they can do to solve the lingering problems in Cebu and other parts of the country if they win in the May 13 elections.

Evelyn Nacario-Castro, head of the Metro Cebu Development Coordinating Board Project Management Office (MCDCB-PMO), said there are several problems that government officials should focus on during their term like traffic congestion, flooding, waste water treatment and solid waste disposal, among others.

Caroline Ballesteros, communications stakeholder relations manager of Mega Cebu, said they decided to hold the 2019 Mega Cebu Candidates Forum so candidates for various positions will be responsible, accountable, consulted and informed of the people’s needs.

Lawyer Ferdinand Gujilde of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) attended the meeting in preparation for the forum and expressed excitement to hear the platforms of senatorial and local candidates.

There will be 12 forums for all the 62 senatorial candidates starting March 4.

Gujilde, who is also a law professor on election law at the University of San Carlos (USC), said millennials, especially students, must hear the candidates’ platform.

Another 10 forums will be held for candidates of local positions, congressmen and selected partylist groups in April. /
