TAPALES EYES IMPRESSIVE WIN IN US FIGHT
Former World Boxing Organization (WBO) bantamweight champion Marlon Tapales looks to impress in his return to the US. Tapales takes on one-time world title challenger Fernando Vargas Parra in a non-title 10-rounder in the undercard of the Leo Santa Cruz vs. Rafael Rivera World Boxing Association (WBA) featherweight title fight at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California on Feb. 17. “This will be a good fight. I’ll do my best in this fight because I want to win impressively here,” the 26-year-old Tapales told SunStar Cebu. Tapales tipped the scales at 123.4 pounds, while Parra weighed in at 123.6 pounds. Tapales is 31-2 with 14 knockouts, while Parra is 34-14-3 with 23 knockouts. Tapales, still one of the best boxers from the country, is looking to return to world title contention, starting with a win over a credible opponent in Parra. /
