/ BACON WINS COMEBACK FIGHT IN COTABATO
James Bacon had a successful comeback from a seven-year absence over battle-worn veteran Richard Betos last Feb. 13 in Cotabato City winning in four rounds. Bacon is now with the Sanman Gym in General Santos City. “James is still young. His few losses do not mean a thing in his chance to be world champion. As long as he sustains his hard work and discipline, he will become world champion,” Sanman chief executive officer JC Manangquil said of Bacon, who’ll be fighting at light welterweight. Bacon, a former ALA Boy, improved to 21-3 with 14 knockouts, while Betos, a former interim World Boxing Council (WBC) ABC super bantamweight champion, dropped to 20-23-2 with seven knockouts. Bacon was once one of the prospects from the ALA Gym. After a win over Gadwin Tubigon in 2012, Bacon called it quits and retired at the age of 21. /
