He reverses position on what it will be, who will pay for it and even its state or status.
Since he talked about it in his campaign, with his supporters chanting “Build that wall, build that wall!,” he has not let go of the idea. US President Trump thinks building a wall at the Mexican border is a promise he must keep. Lately as he nears the reelection stage, the vow turns into near madness.
Who will pay for it? Trump says Mexico. Mexico won’t pay; American taxpayers may have to bear the cost. A concrete wall? Trump now says that it can be wooden slats or steel grill, or anything else; “call it what you will,” he adds. Build the wall? Now it’s “Finish that wall!”
A delusion that it’s already being built and needs only to be finished.
He shut down the government for more than 35 days and threatens to do it again if he doesn’t get the money from Congress. Budget experts advise him to move funds from elsewhere while political strategists tell him to declare a national emergency.
