GSIS Cebu holds information drive for members, employees

-

THE Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) Cebu conducted several membership forums last Feb. 15, with the aim of building an enduring partnership with its stakeholders.

A consultative meeting with all agency property officers was held at the WFG Hall in the GSIS Cebu building in Cebu City. It was attended by 117 officers, who raised various issues and concerns on property insurance and other related matters.

All government agencies (local and national) are mandated by the Republic Act (RA) 656 (The Property Insurance Law) to insure against any insurable risk their properties, assets and interests with the GSIS and pursuant to Commission On Audit’s Memorandum Circular 2018-002, dated May 31, 2018, which was issued to assist the implementation of RA 656.

The 151 GSIS liaison officers were given an update on various GSIS programs and reforms. They serve as the representatives of GSIS to various local and national agencies in Cebu Province.

During the meeting, the rights and obligations of a liaison officer were also discussed. An open forum followed.

A pre-retirement seminar was also held for members aged 60 and above. They may opt to go for optional or compulsory retirement in 2019.

The members aged below 60 may choose to separate or retire from the government service. The soon-to-be-retirees were told about the two options under the Republic Act 8291 (The Government Service Insurance System Act of 1997).
