Cebu City registrar’s office to open desk in Malasakit Center

-

TO FAST-TRACK the process of recording births at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC), the services of the Local Civil Registrar’s Office (LCRO) of Cebu City will soon be available in the Malasakit Center located inside the VSMMC.

Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Michael Dino personally asked Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella to put a desk in the Malasakit Center to accommodate recording of births done inside the hospital.

Labella on his end agreed, and he promised to put personnel from the LCRO in the Malasakit Center within this week.

“To facilitate the recording of births of our constituents, we agreed with Secretary Dino that we have to put in place an employee from the LCRO,” he said.

The mayor further said that it would take time for the parents of the newborn child to process the registration of birth at the LCRO, which is located at the ground floor of the City Health Building on Gen. Maxilom Ave.

He said that it is also timeconsuming for parents to correct typographical errors of their child’s information; however, if a satellite desk of the LCRO is located inside the hospital, then this would make it more convenient to implement corrections.

The LCRO desk in the Malasakit Center would also make the stay of the mothers shorter.

Dino appreciated Labella’s support in further streamlining the government services.

There are five major agencies inside the Malasakit Center, including the Malasakit Fund from the Office of the President, the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth), Department of Health, Department of Social Welfare and Development, and the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.
