Lladró launches limited edition piece at Rustan’s
RENOWNED Spanish porcelain company Lladró launched its limited edition Bullfighter figurine by Spanish sculptor Raul Rubio last Sept. 27, Friday at Rustan’s, Ayala Center Cebu.
Rubio was at the Rustan’s launch to talk about the intricate process of creating Lladró figurines and sign sculptures. His newest creation, the Bullfighter, is a porcelain figurine handcrafted in Valencia, Spain made of matte and golden enamels. Symbolic of a true master in the art of bullfighting, the bullfighter’s costume is decorated with a wealth of ornamentation and elegance in true bullfighter suits. The piece represents tradition, courage and art as bullfighting symbolizes Spanish culture and is regarded as a grand tradition and a form of art in Spain. It is produced in limited quantities with only 300 pieces available worldwide.
Rubio is a graduate of Fine Arts at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, and has worked with Lladró since 2000. He is passionate about the world of sculpture and porcelain, and regards the artisan elaboration processes of Lladró’s creations as the brand’s main value. Rubio has worked on notable collections at Lladró such as the Ganesha, Parrot Party and Dogs & Candies.
