LITE FERRIES LAUNCHES LITE FERRY FIVE

-

EMBARKING on a new chapter of “Sailing Bigger, Faster and Better” and as part of its 29th year, Lite Shipping Corp. launched its new world-class ship on Nov. 18, 2019.

Completed just this year, the brand-new M/V Lite Ferry Five measures 75 meters long and has a gross registered tonnage of 2,895 tons. Built in China and classed by Rina of Italy, the ro-ro (roll-on/ roll-off) vessel can accommodate 540 passengers and 23 10-wheeler trucks.

The vessel was granted “Pioneering Status Protection” by the Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) in the Oslob, Cebu to Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte route under EO 909 and MC 20154. It has a travel time of only four hours, linking Northern Mindanao much closer and faster to the Cebu province.

With a total of seven ships acquired brand-new in the last five years including its flagship vessel M/V Lite Ferry 88 and with the six other vessels which were all below 20 years old upon acquisition, Lite Ferries now operates one of the youngest fleets in the Philippines.

Lite Ferries is also expecting the arrival of its M/V Lite Ferry Nine in December 2019. The vessel will be deployed to service the Jagna, Bohol to Cagayan de Oro City route on a pioneering status by the Marina. S
