Starting Nov. 1, 2021, SunStar Cebu has a new editor-in-chief (EIC)—Cherry Ann T. Lim (second from right), who had served the paper as its longtime managing editor before becoming the EIC. Lim, author of award-winning investigative stories for SunStar Cebu, is the fourth EIC of SunStar Cebu. She is preceded by Pachico A. Seares, Isolde D. Amante and Nini B. Cabaero. SunStar Cebu’s sister publication Superbalita Cebu has a new EIC also—Roger E. Vallena (third from right), who is one of the pioneering personnel of Superbalita and he had been serving the paper as its longtime news editor before his appointment as EIC. Vallena succeeded Michelle P. So (rightmost), who retired after 32 years in Cebuano journalism. While serving as SunStar Cebu’s executive editor, So was appointed as Superbalita Cebu’s EIC in 2010, replacing Seares, a legend in community journalism. Lim and Vallena are working closely with Mildred V. Galarpe (leftmost), the SunStar digital strategy officer.
