Woman, 78, stabbed to death in Dumanjug, Cebu

-

A SEPTUAGENARIAN died in a stabbing incident in Barangay Tubod-Bitoon, Dumanjug, Cebu on Saturday, April 30, 2022.

The fatality was identified as Rufina Limbaga, who was 78. She was found with stab wounds inside her body inside her hut.

Police have launched an investigation to identify the culprit and determine the motive behind the crime.

Initial investigation showed that a neighbor heard a weak voice asking for help around 5:30 p.m. but the neighbor could not ascertain where the call for distress came from and did not bother to check, said Dumanjug police investigator Marlou Santillas.

When Limbaga’s married daughter Silvestra Halokana arrived later, Halokana noticed something was odd: the hut was dark.

Limbaga would always turn on the lights when it was already dusk, Halokana told the police.

Halokana entered the hut and she saw her mother sprawled on the bamboo floor in a pool of blood.

The Dumanjug Police Station received the report about the stabbing incident at 7:30 p.m. from the town’s emergency rescue team, which had been informed about it first by tanod (village watchman) Junjun Depolan. /
