Valenzuela City bounces back with rout of Mindoro in MPBL

THE Valenzuela City-MJAS Zenith bounced back with a 79-67 victory over the Mindoro Tams in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) Season 4 on Monday night, May 2, 2022, at the Filoil Flying V Center.

After losing their opening game against Sarangani, Valenzuela City—the team that has the most Cebuano players with six—tightened up their game and came away with a convincing victory to even their record up at 1-1.

One-time VisMin Cup MVP Jaymar Gimpayan sizzled for Valenzuela with 21 points and 17 rebounds, while the “Cebuano Sniper” Patrick Jan Cabahug also had a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Lord Casajeros added 13, while energetic forward Felix Apreku scored nine and hauled down 16 boards.

Former Alaska guard Julius Pasculado also made his return to the Philippine basketball scene and masterfull­y orchestrat­ed Valenzuela’s offense, tallying nine assists to go with his seven points.

Teytey Teodoro led Mindoro with 14 markers.

In the second game, the AllStar Bacolod Ballers took down the Imus Bandera, 67-57.

Jhan Nermal scored 17, while Jeramer Cabahug added 12 to lead Bacolod to a victorious debut in this competitio­n.
