DBTC, ANS off to hot start in Palaro bubble


DON Bosco Technical College (DBTC) and Abellana National School (ANS) are off to a hot start in the Palarong Pambansa Football Bubble on May 4 at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC) football field.

DBTC defeated sister school Don Bosco Boys Home (DBBH), 1-0, after Gian Renzo Custado scored the match’s lone goal in the 20th minute of regulation.

On the other hand, ANS beat perennial contender Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC), 1-0, in the day’s opening match.

Mart Lester Zafra hit the back of the net just before halftime in the 41st minute.

DBTC faces ANS at 7 a.m. on May 5, followed by SHS-AdC against DBBH at 8:30 a.m.

In the afternoon, DBTC takes on SHS-ADC at 2 p.m., followed by DBBH against ANS at 3:30 p.m.

The top two teams after the single-round eliminatio­n advance to the finals, while the bottom two will fight for third place on May 6.

The Palarong Pambansa Football Bubble is the Department of Education’s pilot tournament in its goal to adapt its sporting activities to the Covid-19 pandemic.
