PBA Commissioner’s Cup to return in Season 47
THE Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) will be welcoming back the Commissioner’s Cup during the league’s 47th season, which will finally return to its three-conference format and will tip off with the all-Filipino Philippine Cup on June 5, 2022.
The development was announced during a virtual press conference on Wednesday, May 4. Present during the event were chairman Ricky Vargas and commissioner Willie Marcial together who were joined by vice chairman Bobby Rosales and treasurer Raymond Zorrilla.
The Commissioner’s Cup is an import-laden tournament that follows the all-Filipino conference. It was shelved during the pandemic and is slated to return on Oct. 2, 2022. The PBA’s 47th season will then wrap up with the Governors’ Cup in February 2022.
Marcial also announced that the league will also have an All-Star Game—a first since 2019—as well as out-of-town games and one international match.
The PBA will have a very busy schedule with its teams and players also competing in the Asian Games and the East Asia Super League.
