POLICE NABS 17 PEOPLE FOR LIQUOR BAN, 13 FOR DEFACING BANK NOTES IN CENTRAL VISAYAS
At least 17 persons were arrested in Central Visayas for violating the liquor ban as of 6 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2022. The liquor ban of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) was in effect from May 8 to May 9, 2022, or until after the national and local elections was over. Bohol province had the most number of offenders with eight, followed by Lapu-Lapu City with four, Mandaue City with three, and Cebu province with two. Also, a total of 13 persons were also arrested for having in their possession an envelope containing sample ballots and stapled money, which is in violation of Presidential Decree 247, an act prohibiting and penalizing defacement, mutilation, tearing, burning or destruction of Central Bank notes.
