FAILURE OF ELECTION DECLARED IN 14 LANAO DEL SUR BARANGAYS

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) declared on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 the failure of election in 14 barangays in the towns of Butig, Binidayan and Tubaran in Lanao del Sur due to the chaotic conduct of the 2022 national and local polls there on Monday. The Comelec said it will hold a special election in Tubaran on May 12 or “on a date that the honorable en banc deems proper,” while May 15 in Butig and Binidayan. There was only one barangay each from Butig and Binidayan, Ragayan and Pindolonan, respectively, in which the failure of election was declared. In Tubaran, the barangays identified were Tangcal, Datumanong, Guiarong, Baguiangun, Wago, Malaganding, Gadongan, Riantaran, Pagalamatan, Mindamunag, Paigoday-pimbataan and Metadicop.
