Marcos, Duterte-Carpio likely to attend 1Cebu bets’ inauguration
PRESUMPTIVE president Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos and presumptive vice president Sara Duterte-Carpio are expected to attend the mass oathtaking of candidates under One Cebu party who won in the May 9 local and national elections.
Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia told the media on Monday, May 16, 2022, that they invited Marcos and Carpio to the inauguration of One Cebu’s winning candidates.
The exact date of oathtaking, however, has yet to be announced.
Garcia was hopeful that Marcos would attend the oath-taking ceremony despite his busy schedule, especially now that he leads the presidential race.
“We will extend that invitation and I hope his (Marcos) schedule will permit us,” Garcia added.
During her proclamation as governor on May 10, Garcia’s daughter, Carpio’s spokesperson and Liloan Mayor Christina Garcia-Frasco, was asked by Carpio about the schedule of One Cebu’s mass oathtaking.
“As I said, prior to the election, presumptive vice president Inday Sara had already asked when the inauguration will be. I think she is already planning. I hope they can (attend) but we would understand kung busy kaayo (if they are really busy),” Garcia said.
One Cebu, headed by Garcia, had formally endorsed the UniTeam alliance of Marcos and Duterte-Carpio in Cebu on April 12.
The vote-rich province delivered 1,055,985 votes to Marcos and 1,258,538 votes to Duterte-Carpio during the May 9 polls, based on data from the media transparency server.
