Nustar to prioritize hiring Cebuanos

-

CEBUANOS stand to benefit from the opening of the nine-hectare Nustar Resort and Casino.

As of March 31, the Gokongwei-owned integrated development Nustar has hired 889 workers, of whom 60 percent are from Cebu.

The company said Cebu-based applicants get hiring priority as it continues to seek applicants suited for administrative, operation and executive positions.

For the casino operations, jobs available are dealers, slots ambassadors, count clerks and security ambassadors.

As more hotels and other tourism players open in Cebu, Nustar said it offers competitive compensation packages and privileges to qualified applicants.

The compensation package upon regularization includes rice subsidy, medicine, and Christmas allowance and medical insurance coverage.

Also Nustar team members can avail themselves of free shuttle to workplace, a meal per shift, free uniform and free laundry service.

In a previous interview, Fili Urban Resort general manager Paul Lee said Cebu is poised for growth in the coming years because of its accelerated infrastructure developments.

“The Philippines is primed for a significant uptick in the growth of the economy and tourism over the next few years. Cebu is a prime destination for tourism and is set to capitalize on this with direct flights from within and outside of the Philippines,” said Lee, adding that the hotel is also giving priority to Cebu-based applicants for its hotel hiring.

Fili Urban Resort is one of the hotels inside Nustar. Nustar is an integrated resort development that features a luxury mall, convention center, performing arts theater, skydeck, boardwalk and a leisure park. It is developed by Universal Hotels and Resorts Inc. It will also have a casino, hotels and a number of restaurants./
