Health Carousel Philippines celebrates Daisy Nursing awardees
HEALTH Carousel, a leading healthcare staffing and workforce solutions company, has celebrated a milestone of 100 Daisy Award recipients.
These awards recognize nurses, nursing school faculty and nursing students who go above and beyond in their commitment to care for patients and their families.
“We are proud to celebrate this milestone in nursing recognition,” said Connie De La Cruz, co-founder and chairperson of Health Carousel Philippines. “Health Carousel Philippines is dedicated to the nurses who keep our healthcare system running and provide essential care to patients worldwide.”
The 100th award celebration took place in Cebu City. Every Daisy Award celebration is a tale of the superhuman work nurses do for patients and families daily.
Angyl Fayth Ababat, a student nurse, saved the life of an elderly vendor who suffered a knife wound to her neck while out on the streets of Cebu City. She performed her life-saving duty despite not knowing if the attacker was nearby and ready to strike again.
In recognition of her extraordinary care, Health Carousel Philippines gave her the Daisy Award for Extraordinary Nursing Students in front of 749 nursing students, nursing faculty, parents and guests attending her nurse capping ceremony.
At a time when headlines highlight nursing shortages and the impact they have on access to care, it’s reassuring that organizations such as Health Carousel, Health Carousel Philippines and the Daisy Foundation are working together to improve workforce satisfaction and retention through meaningful nurse recognition.
In 2018, Health Carousel began its relationship with The Daisy Foundation and started collecting patient nominations for the Daisy Award for Extraordinary Nurses. A corporate committee meets quarterly to review the nominations and selects one nurse from Health Carousel Philippines and each US corporate division who exemplifies the Daisy Award’s focus on above-andbeyond compassionate care.
As the Daisy Foundation sought to provide meaningful recognition of nurses in developing countries where funding was a barrier, Health Carousel stepped up and became Daisy’s first International Advocate, underwriting the awards program in Uganda, Ghana and Cameroon. Recently, Health Carousel underwrote the first-ever Daisy Award for Extraordinary Nursing Faculty and Nursing Students in Africa at Exist University School of Nursing in Cameroon.
Meanwhile, Health Carousel’s commitment to lighting the way in global nursing sustainability and development programs grew even stronger with the formation of the Health Carousel Foundation at the end of 2022.
