- ROGER SERNA / Writer

THE stars of Philippine cinema who were chosen to be part of the cast of “Batang Quiapo” recently had nothing but high praises for primetime king Coco Martin during a media conference.

Lovi Poe, Charo Santos, Cherie Pie Picache, John Estrada, Susan Africa, Ping Medina, McCoy de Leon, Christopher de Leon, Lorna Tolentino, Ronnie Lazaro, Julio Diaz, Alan Paule and many others were among the stellar line-up who attended the event.

During the media conference, the cast members described Coco in many positive ways, such as a “creative genius,” “mover,” “generous,” “excitingly unpredictable,” “gracious artist,” “magician,” “professional,” “hard-worker,” “authentic” and “intuitive.” Martin is not only the lead star of the series but also the scriptwriter, creative director and co-producer.

On Monday, May 8, 2023, viewers witnessed a significant change in Martin’s character, Tanggol, as he realized that it was time for him to change. However, Martin, being the creative director and a “magician,” made sure that the episodes to follow would not be dull and lackluster. He promises that the characters’ lives will finally intertwine, causing more complications and chaos to the already complicated setup.

Upon hearing the cast’s praises, Martin simply flashed his enigmatic and mischievous smile and thanked them. He also expressed his gratitude to the viewers worldwide for making “Batang Quiapo” a part of their nightly activities since its premiere in February.

Martin said that the support and love shown by the viewers posed a big challenge to the production to come up with exciting episodes every day, but they are up for the challenge.
