The impact: Ripples of innovation

-

Pier 88’s completion has opened doors to development and progress, projected by government officials to improve the transportation woes of Cebuanos living in the tri-cities. Aside from transportation system improvements, the newly opened port is also said to be another economic driver in Cebu island.

Areas as far as Camotes Island, Leyte, and Bohol are included in the target destinations of the ferry and boat transport services to be offered by the port. This, along with the Metro Cebu areas will now have access to sea travel via sea vessels crossing from port to port.

“The Port will significantly cut travel time, alleviating the difficulties of the traveling public from the northern parts of Metro Cebu who commute daily on the way to their respective workplaces in the cities of Mandaue, LapuLapu, and Cebu.”

“Apan dinhi sa Liloan, atong ipakita kung unsa ka ligdong ang mga Liloanon, og kung unsa ka ligdong ang mga Sugbuanon. Bisan paman sa unsang hagit, og bisan pa man sa unsang kalisod, kita mubarog, kita mupadayon, og mao na kini ang Liloan Pier 88.”

“Pier 88 is a testament to the power of collaboration. By working closely with our stakeholders, we have developed a port that not only meets the needs of the industry but also benefits the surrounding community through job creation and improved infrastructure.”

Eugene Erik Lapasaran Lim President and CEO Topline Group of Companies and Pier 88 Ventures Inc.

“With the provision of a sea bus, several sea buses, traffic congestions might be eased, but more than that, [for] our 10,000 commuters that regularly ply the Lapu-Lapu – Liloan [route] […] their ease and comfort would finally be given by this service (Pier 88), that certainly levels up; pushes Cebu to a much higher level than where it is today.”
