All set for Micecon 2013

AN international conference on meetings, incentives, conventions, and events/exhibitions (Mice) is set to open this week at the newly-built SMX Convention Center at the SM Lanang Premier.

MiceCon 2013 is expected to draw national and foreign delegates who will be participating the conference seminars, starting March 7, Thursday, until March 9, Saturday.

In a previous report, MiceCon will also provide more opportunities for the local industry players as there will be business-to-business meetings dubbed as “Mice Mart.”

Industry players will be given a space for products, and services exhibition at the event center through the “Mice Marketplace.”

The holding of MiceCon 2013 is a boon to the city’s bid to be considered as an international destination for meetings, incentives, conference, events/exhibitions.

With the event set to open this week, MiceCon2013 is just one of big events first time to be conducted in Davao City, aside from the biennial Ad Congress 2013.

SMX Convention Center Davao, the second of its kind in the country aside that of SM Mall of Asia, has a gross floor area of 7,835 square meters, comprising of three function rooms with collapsible walls.

The biggest convention center in Mindanao can accommodate a total of 5,000 individuals.

In a previous report, three new upscale restaurants in Davao City were tapped by the SMX Convention Center to offer delegates with discounts.

Hog’s Breath Cafe, New Orleans Bourbon Steaks and Clawdaddy’s will be offering 10 percent discounts for delegates while 15 percent discount will be offered by Bulgogi Brothers.

Some of MiceCon 2013 participants are expected to arrive in the city today.
