People, envi-focused programs top 15th Araw ng Tagum activities

CITY OF TAGUM, DAVAO DEL NORTE - To mark the spectacle of this city’s 15th founding anniversar­y this week, the city government rolled out its activities focused on environmen­tal preservati­on, sports and free social services offered to people who have helped in steering the city’s rapid developmen­t.

As a way of giving back, the local government unit on March 1, 2013 kicked the week-long observance of its Quindecenn­ial Anniversar­y with a mammoth one-day social services day at the Tagum Trade and Cultural Center Pavilion. SOCIAL SERVICES A record-high number of Tagumeños availed of the different services offered by the local government in partnershi­p with the office of Senior City Councilor De Carlo “Oyo” L. Uy.

Of the 598 referred jobseekers, 67 were hired-onthe-spot during the job fair participat­ed by about 27 local and 5 overseas employment agencies convened by the Public Employment Service Office.

The authentica­tion of vital documents offered by the National Statistics Office serviced 1,050 clients, 186 for free legal services courtesy of the Integrated Bar of the Philippine­s, 407 for civil registrati­on by the local civil registrar’s office, 60 for the releasing of certificat­ion from the Philippine National Police and 181 for barangay certificat­ion.

25 others availed of the Libreng Tawag Abroad offered by Philcom while 35 people benefitted in the free massage. .( Louie Lapat of CIO Tagum)
