Annex bldg of DOPH to rise soon

-

MATI CITY, Davao Oriental – Another building for the Davao Oriental Provincial Hospital will soon rise, adding more features and services of the provincial hospital, making true to the provincial government’s promise that the poor should not be deprived of such services.

The 4-storey AnnexC building is just another complement to the facelift already started by Gov. Cora Malanyaon at the DOPH.

Gov. Corazon Malanyaon, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Risuldo Malintad, DOPH Chief of Hospital Dr. Joy Sanico, other Chief of Hospitals from the province, Engr. Cynthia Chiu, DPWH Second District Engineer, Engr. Roel Dumadag of the Prov’l Engineering Office, provincial department heads, employees, Board Members Nino Uy, Daud Linsag, Ronald Lara, Jose Mario Palma Gil, and Nestor Uy led the groundbreaking and unveiling of the annex-c building, together with Rev. Fr. Alan Daclan of the Society of Divine Vocations (SDV).

The building will house the semi private, private, and even suite rooms to cater to the influx of patients coming to the hospital everyday.

Governor Cora Malanyaon reqested for a P90 million allocation from the Dep’t. of Health (DOH). Though the agency did not give the requested amount of the province, but it generously gave P20 million which will be used to start with the implementation of the project.

“The project will cost something like P120 million. We will still be sourcing out funds to complete the project, but I know this will not be difficult. We can do this just like what we did with th Out Patient Dept. where we only started with a small budget, but after the sources saw what we did, after they saw our initiatives, assistance came pouring in,” Malanyaon said.

The 4-storey building will set foot on a 4,440 square meters area. The lower ground of the building is the laundry, then the dietary, and the training center.

There is a need for a training center after Gov. Malanyaon inked an agreement with Dept. of Health, and the Dept. of Regional Hospitals for a training consosrtium, a first in the history for locally managed hospitals.

Malanyaon is also expectant on the revenue that the provincial hospital will bring to the treasury of the province.

“Who says government hospitals can’t raise revenue? Well, for Davao Oriental, it does. Last year, we were able to raise 80 million pesos. For this year, we laid a target of 100 million pesos,” she explained.
