2 men face charges for illegal drugs
POLICE filed charges before the City Prosecution Office (CPO) on Monday against a driver and a helper for illegal drugs.
Charged with violation of the Republic Act 9165 or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 were Virgilio Ramos Laput, alias Tating, 32, a tricycle driver and Mhike Jed Catulong Rufino, alias Makoy, 19, a helper, both residents of Vista Verde, Lawaan Street in Barangay Sasa in Davao City.
Personnel of the Davao City Police Office’s Intelligence Branch (DCPO-IB) brought the two suspects before Prosecutor Joseph Mamburam at 10 a.m. yesterday for inquest proceedings.
Supt. Anthony O. Padua, head of the Intelligence Branch, said the suspects were charged of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) of the Republic Act 9165. Record from the DCPO showed that the suspects were arrested in a buy-bust operation last Friday at North Triangle Complex in Barangay Sasa in Davao City.
Personnel of the DCPOIB in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 11 arrested them around 8:30 p.m.
Padua said recovered from the possession of the suspects were two small elongated sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P2,000 and a P500 marked money bill. Padua said the suspects were arrested, following the information tip before the authorities, during their one
week surveillance.
“Dili nuon ni sila ingon na dagkong pusher pero dungog namo taud-taud na pud daw ni sila nagapamaligya ug droga sa area. Maayo nalang nay nakakita ug nakasumbong, mao nadakpan nato ni sila,” Padua added. The suspects are now detained at the DCPO jail facility for their proper disposition, while the seized drugs were submitted at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Crime Laboratory 11 for examination.
