Week-long Brigada Eskwela kicks off in Davao City
THE Brigada Eskwela clean up drive kicked off yesterday in all schools of the city with parents, students and teachers helping one another to prepare the classrooms, buildings and surroundings for the opening of classes on June 3, 2013.
Emerita Mapula, principal of the Cesario Villa-Abrille Elementary School at Barangay 76-A lauded the support of the parents in the clean up activity.
She also urged other stakeholders in the community to participate.
Mapula said the barangay government of 76-A has set Wednesday to help in the preparation of the schoolyard for the opening of classes.
“I ask all stakeholders that through the Bayanihan spirit, we contribute to the preparation of our school so that the students can directly attend to their classes on the first day of school,” she said.
Mapula said volunteers may bring cleaning materials like stick brooms, soft brooms, soap and rags to speed up the cleaning of walls, rooms and pathways.
She said the Brigada
Eskwela has been part of the school preparation for the past two years, for a week prior to the opening of classes.
“It is part of the national school operation every opening of classes so that when the students come, they proceed to the learning sessions instead of cleaning the schoolyard,” Mapula said.
Genelito Atillo, spokesperson of the Department of Education XI observed that residents are able to accept the need to cooperate in the preparing the schools through the Brigada Eskwela. (PIA XI-Joey Sem G. Dalumpines)
