Singapore Math fest at Ateneo on May 25
TEACHERS and educators are the think tanks of innovation in the field of education. They are always on the look out for new ways of presenting the lessons and imparting excellent study habits to the children.
With the rise of Singapore Math, teachers would want to familiarize themselves with the new learning strategy which has changed the world of Mathematics.
Singapore Math gives importance to the developmental stages of a child. It aids the teachers in concretizing abstract concepts for the students. It also provides familiar situations where the student is able to see the connection of these methods and concepts in everyday activities.
The students learn to see the problem from a different perspective different from the traditional methods taught inside the classroom. The teachers shift their own perspective too, focusing more on the procedure than providing the correct answer. They give importance to the solution, which tests whether the child has fully understood the concept.
Learn how schools in the Philippines are adopting Singapore Math in their classrooms. Galileo Enrichment Learning Program will be having its first regional run of Singapore Math Festival on May 25, 2013 at Ateneo de Davao University. The festival features a major talk by Dr. Queena Lee-Chua, Math Professor at the Ateneo De Manila University and multi-awarded educator together with her son Scott Lee Chua; and sessions to be conducted by educators from the country’s top schools. They will tackle how Singapore math is implemented in Galileo centers and schools, its benefits to a child’s learning development, and the fun Singapore math activities that can be done inside the classroom and at home.
