LGU Panabo backs Deped’s Brigada Eskwela
PANABO CITY, Davao del Norte--In order to encourage the public to share their time, strength and resources in kind, the Local Government of Panabo has joined the 2013 Institutionalized National Schools Maintenance Week also known as “Brigada Eskwela” with a theme “Isang Dekada ng Bayanihan sa Paraalan” which ran from May 20-25.
In a Memorandum issued by the City Administrator that all Department Heads, upon their discretion, to allow the participation of Job Orders to render volunteer work during their official time, either at the school where they reside or of their choice.
Furthermore, volunteers are required to secure a Certificate of Appearance from the principal for their two (2) days volunteer work wherein it will attached in their Daily Time Record.
Volunteers usually paint the classroom, clean up the school grounds and repair furniture. LGU Panabo has also provided materials and supplies to prepare the facilities for the June 2013 school opening. The event was participated by the private sectors, national and local agencies.
Djhoane Aguilar, Panabo Central Elementary School Brigaga Eskwela Coordinator requested the help of the Local Government through the General Services Office (GSO) to use 1 unit bulldozer in removing the concrete flagpole fronting the entrance gate.
Aguilar said that big improvements had been made citing the flagpole which had been moved to another location to prevent inconvenience. She cited the help of Dole Philippines, the local government of Panabo and the Philippine Air Force alongside the Bureau of Fire Protection.
She added that the Local Government has allocated P10, 000 for each school under the Special Education Fund to be use in Brigada Eskwela for the improvement in their respective schools. Cristorpher Balinton, LGU job order employee, has rendered his voluntary works at the Rizal Elementary School wherein he was joined by parents, teachers and some students of the said school.
“I am very happy that I was able to help together with the parents and the teachers in cleaning and repairing the school.” Balinton said in vernacular.
Brigada Eskwela is a nationwide voluntary efforts bringing together teachers, parents and the community to do clean up and repairs in public schools for the June school opening.
