5th Summer Sports Festival successful

CITY OF TAGUM, Davao del Norte – Despite the summer temperatur­e soaring, the 5th Summer Sports Festival 2013 successful­ly concluded last March 26 in Tagum City.

During the opening program, the induction and oath-taking ceremony of the new set of officers of the Tagum City Federation of Sports Associatio­n (TCFSA) was conducted, administer­ed by no less than City Councilor Oscar Bermudez.

This year’s festival, which ran from May 17-26, 2012, featured different sports such as beach volleyball, table tennis, taekwondo, badminton, sepak takraw, chess, six-man open volleyball, dart, softball, lawn tennis and mixed martial arts.

In the beach volley ball, Team PIAATOS (men) and UMTC Alumni (women) won in the competitio­n while NIA Region 11 took home the championsh­ip in the sixman open volleyball tourna- ment.

Danhill Monares emerged as the champion in table tennis, while Team Keano of Tagum City grabbed the championsh­ip title in the Sepak Takraw Regu Competitio­n. Joe Art Capatan also won the championsh­ip title in the chess tournament.

Shopping malls around the city also participat­ed in the festival by sponsoring the different sports competitio­ns.

Dog owners of Tagum City had also an opportunit­y to participat­e in the Dog Agility Show, staged at the Dog’s Park, located within the Rotary Park along Pioneer Avenue, this city.
