SUMMER is almost gone. Here comes the rain again. But before summer has ended, the Pearl Farm Beach Resort in the Island Garden City of Samal had convene a summer party that would end all summer parties – a party that will serve as a gauge for other summer parties to come in the future.

“I really had a blast,” said Keith Giovanni Querequincia, an architect from Davao City. “It’s my first time to attend this kind of party here and I will surely return.” Joshua Lamano said of the party: “Ayos kaayo.” Caloy Salvador commented: “Masaya, medyo nabitin lang.”

All three, along with Ferdinand Barayuga, emerged the winners in the kayak relay. They called themselves the Cover Boys.

Aside from kayaking, there was also a beach volleyball game where teams from University of Southeastern Philippines fought against Holy Cross of Davao. Another face-off was done with team Chaka winning over the Cover Boys.

Two parlor games were conducted: hoola hoop and limbo rock. The crowd joined the fun by shouting and singing. Guests and visitors – local and foreigners – were having fun. “It’s indeed more fun in the Philippines,” one American guest said.

The crowd went livelier when Vicky Javier and her team moved their bodies with zumba dance. Some let their bodies moved, too, following the dancing team.

Those who attended the afternoon activities, done at T-Wharf Villa Beach, were welcomed by drumbeaters and poi dancers of Tribu Kamindnaoan. There was also face-painting and glitter tattoo for those who wanted them. In between the games and fun, DJ Gary played mixed of music to set the tone of the afternoon affair.

But the fun didn’t end there. After the games, the crowd walked together and went to the Pavilion Beach, where the party was to be held.

Catching the attention of the crowd was the opening number of Tribu Kamindanaoan as the poi dancers did their breathtaking fire dancing.

As the crowd settled in their respective places, event host Carol Sandra Smith welcomed everyone and told what would happen in the next four hours. But before that, she said, “Before the party, let’s l eat first!”

When the crowd was almost half h done with eating, the beach wear fashion show by Quicksil-ver, v Roxy and DC – featuring the Davao Metro Models – started. After A that, the Music Authority Band played songs that were familiar to the old folks but not to the t younger generations.

But hey, everyone was having fun. The music didn’t deter some to dance their way near the stage. And when the foam machine started showering its white suds, the crowd joined the fun. Young and old alike shook their bodies and raised their hands to th e dancing tunes played by the band. It was like dancing in the snow – without the fangs of cold!

The party ended with fireworks display at 9:45 in the evening. By 10, the crowd started following the queue going to the boat that would bring them back to Davao City.

“The party is over,” my companion said. “Wish it would be until the morning,” another commented.

There’s more fun indeed in Pearl Farm Beach Resort’s summer party.
