Ungab: Quitain may accept city admin post if offered

-

ATTY. Melchor Quitain earned his second term as councilor of Davao City during the May 13 elections, but chances are he may be headed to the executive department instead of the legislative body.

Rep. Isidro T. Ungab said Mayor-elect Rodrigo R. Duterte had time and again made public his desire to take Quitain as his city administrator when he assumes office in July.

And once Duterte formally makes the offer, Ungab said he believes Quitain is going to accept the job as the mayor’s alter ego.

“There’s a possibility that he (Qitain) will accept it assuming that it (job) will be offerred to him because that position must have the trust and confidence of the mayor,” Ungab told Sun. Star Davao.

Ungab, who got a fresh

mandate in the last polls as he ran unopposed, said Duterte had been openly announcing during the campaign sorties of Hugpong sa Tawng Lungsod prior to the elections that he is going to make Quitain his city admininistrator.

Duterte, Ungab said, is expected to announce his team at the executive department soon.

“Mosy likely the mayor will announce his official family before he assumes office,” the lawmaker from Davao City’s third district said.

Ungab said Qiuitain is more than qualified for the position as his capability is tried and tested.

“He will be a good city administator,” he said. CRAM
