No more politics for Boyet de Leon

- By Glaiza Jarloc Of Sunnex

SANDY Andolong said that her husband actor Christopher “Boyet” de Leon is keen to stay out of politics in the coming years.

Sun.Star interviewed the seasoned actress at the “Anna Karenina” press launch recently held at the Imperial Suites in Quezon City.

Sandy said Christopher is doing great and is now focusing on his television commitments after his failed congressional bid in the 2nd district of Batangas. “Nobody is really sad. Yung point of view namin ng mga anak ko is nanalo ka (Boyet) because you played the game fairly. Hindi ka nakipagsabayan sa hindi dapat, hindi ka kinain ng sistema,” she said

She recalled that in her recent conversation with Christopher in Misibis Bay, the actor acknowledged that he’s not a game player.

Andolong said that during her husband’s short stint as Boardmember of Batangas, he discovered the ugly side of politics.

“I will tell you honestly,’ sabi kong ganun, ‘you’re too trusting and honest to be in politics. And hindi ka game player.’ It’s a big relieve for him kasi marami siyang nakitang (hindi maganda) and yung realization na it’s a totally different (arena),” she said.

Sandy added that Boyet wants to lead a simple life and to spend more time with her and their kids.

Although politics is not their immediate concern at the moment, the actress reiterated that they will still continue their advocacies and promises in Batangas.

For her part, Sandy is keen in pursuing a health related project in the said province while Boyet will push through with his campaigns for the environment.

“Hindi ko pa siya kilala, Batangas na yan palagi. For him it’s the most beautiful place and nasasayangan siya, kaya gusto niyang ma-save yung mga bundok and the ocean,” she said.
