8 men face raps for theft

EIGHT men were charged before the City Prosecutor’s Office for conspiring with each other in stealing from a poultry farm in Upper Bnugao, Toril, Davao City on Oct. 25.

Facing charges for violation of Article 310 (Qualified Theft) of the Revised Penal Code are Melgie Gonzales Mercadal, Argie Ginela Bosay, Jerson Atan Egoongan, Clark Aquino Gilbuena and Jomer Aungon while facing raps for violation of the Presidenti­al Decree 1612 otherwise known as the Anti-Fencing Law are siblings Jerome Ruiz Amper and Victor Amper, Jr. and Reynaldo Navales.

The eight men were charged after stealing chick-

ens from the Anas Poulty Farm managed by Mario Saricon.

The complainan­t appeared before the Toril police station to report an alleged theft perpetrate­d by his employees.

Saricon was then accompanie­d by Toril police to conduct an investigat­ion at around 9:45 of Oct. 24.

While roving within the area of the complainan­t’s farm, Saricon and the police officers spotted the truck driven by Mercadal and when they stopped by the truck, they saw Mercadal and Bosay in the act of unloading 25 chickens to a green multi-cab owned by Jerome Amper. Saricon and the cops also saw Victor Amper Jr. and Navales helping out in unloading the chickens.

Police officers conducted the arrest and recovered P1,750 from possession of Mercadal believed to be the proceeds from the stolen chickens he sold to Amper.

Before detaining the Amper brothers and Navales, police told them that they should also arrange a transactio­n with the remaining suspects as a way for them to pursue with an entrapment operation.

Police then arrested Egoongan, Gilbuena and Augnon who were caught red-handed in unloading 65 chickens to the vehicle of Amper.
