UM’s Wagdos set to defend Pryce Gas men’s 5K crown

FRESH from winning two gold medals in the National University Games mes (Uni-Games) in Bacolod City recently, ntly, University of Mindanao (UM) trackster ster Sonny Wagdos is poised to defend his men’s 5K title in the upcoming Pryce ryce Gas International Marathon in Cagayan yan de Oro City.

The 19-year-old Criminology student dent said during yesterday’s Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum m at NCCC Mall B3 lanes, Pryce Gas nga lumba nalang akong ginapangandaman man usa mahuman ang tuig. Paningkamutan utan nako nga madepensahan akong titulo tulo (I’m preparing for the Pryce Gas event vent before the year ends. I’ll do my best t to defend my title).”

Wagdos bagged the 5,000-meter run gold medal with a time of 15 minutes utes and 38 seconds in the Uni-Games. His is 15:32 record last year was only good d for fourth place.

He doubled the feat by clinching g the 1,500m gold having clocked 4:01 1 in the finals.

His twin golden performances came ame on the heels of keeping his men’s 10K crown in the 37th National Milo Marathon Davao City eliminations race recently.

Wagdos is also supposed to compete in the Davao City eliminations of the Private Schools Athletic Association (Prisaa) but since UM will not be facing any rival team in athletics, they will go straight to the Regional Prisaa Meet instead.
