Ariella Arida among Miss U frontrunners

ARIELLA “Ara” Arida, the country’s representative to the 2013 Miss Universe pageant, was well-applauded during the preliminary competition on Tuesday evening at Crocus City Hall in Moscow, Russia. She is among the top bets after the preliminaries based on internet polls and betting trends.

Among the top contenders are Miss Spain Patricia Rodriguez, Miss USA Erin Brady, Miss Russia Elmira Abdrazakova, and Miss France Hinarani de Longeaux.

Ariella looked sweet and stunning in her lime yellow strapless mermaid gown by Columbian designer Alfredo Barazza.

Barazza also made the modern gold Filipiniana gown Ara wore on Sunday at national costume competition.

After the preliminary competition, she posted on her Twitter account, “Thank you Lord. Enjoyed the show. Thanks for the feedback guys. Noted. Im so happy.”

Reigning Miss Universe Olivia Culpo of the United States and sportscaster Nick Teplitz hosted the event.

Meanwhile, the 2012 Miss Universe 2012 runner-up, Janine Tugonon arrived in Russia on Tuesday morning and showed her support for Ara.

“Just waiting for our ride to Crocus City Hall. Prelims! Cant wait to shout Philippines,” Janine posted on her Twitter account.
