6 persons caught for possession of drugs

DIGOS CITY - Authoritie­s formally charged six persons for violation of RA 9165, also known as the ‘ Comprehens­ive Antiiilega­l Drugs Act of 2002’, on Monday.

Supt. Querubin Manalang, city police chief, said the Provincial Anti-illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Force (PAIDSOFT) conducted the buy bust operation at Chapter 7, Barangay Aplaya during Halloween.

The suspects Arcel Alindajao, 36 and Mary Joy Suarez alyas “Joy”, 25, both single and residents of Purok Alom, First Crumb Street in Barangay Zone 1.

Manalang said three sachets of white crystallin­e substance believed to be methamphet­amine hydrochlor­ide or shabu, a Nokia 2330 black cellphone, P1,000.00 in marked money and a black Honda Bravo motorcycle, bearing plate number IN 1179, were seized from their possesion.

Senior Supt. Ronaldo Llanera, provincial police director, said around 4:30p.m., on November 2, one Shelmer Alfeche, 32, laborer from Barangay Malalag Cogon, in Malungon big town, Sarangani province was also apprehende­d.

Llanera said two elongated paper rolled up and containing believed to be cannabis sativa or dried marijuana leaves were confiscate­d after a buy-bust operation using P400 in marked money, in front of University of Mindanao along Roxas Extension.

He said around 11:30a. m. on November 2, a search warrant was also served at the residence of Sadam Dimaru, 22, along First Crumb Street, which resulted in the confiscati­on of two plastic transparen­t packs with dried marijuana leaves and one elongated plastic transparen­t sachet believed to be shabu and several drug parapherna­lia.

Llanera said the search warrant was issued by the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 18 and signed by Executive Judge Carmelita Sarno-Davin on October 23.

On October 31, one Shadi Nawadi Jamili, 24, of Purok Maligaya, Barangay Bato, Sta. Cruz and Rogelio Bustamante, Sison, 27, laborer from Barangay Goma here, were also arrested by patrolling policemen.

Llanera said policemen conducting a checkpoint confronted the suspects which threw a P100 bill containing one sachet of shabu on the ground.
