Man runs amok, stabs 3
ZAMBOANGA - A man who ran amok was shot and killed on Monday while three others, including a policeman, were wounded in Zamboanga Sibugay province.
The Zamboanga Sibugay Police Office said the incident took place around 12 noon Monday in Veterans village, Ipil town.
Shot and killed was Christopher Enguito, 20, who died while under medication at the Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Hospital.
Wounded were Police Officer 1 (PO1) Arnel Dagatan, Rosito Omelia, 20, a bystander, and Roldan Tuble, a tricycle driver.
Investigation showed that prior to the incident, Enguito entered a dry goods establishment and took two kitchen knives.
He ran outside the establishment and stabbed a saleslady after she confronted the suspect, the police said.
Enguito refused to yield and ran toward the national highway when responding policemen tried to convince him to surrender.
The suspect then stabbed Tuble, who managed to grab and took possession of one of the two knives used by Enguito, the police said.
Dagatan sustained bruises when Enguito stabbed him after he accosted the latter, the police said.
The attack on Dagatan has forced the group of policemen headed by Chief Inspector Ariel Huesca, the information officer of the Zamboanga Peninsula Police Office, to shoot the suspect.
Huesca and his companions happened to be in the area when Enguito attacked Dagatan.
The suspect was rushed to the hospital but died soon after.
