No theme for Araw

-

THE City Government of Davao will push through with the celebration of the 77th Araw ng Dabaw, which will kick off today, even without a theme.

Councilor Al Ryan Alejandre, official spokesperson for the Araw ng Dabaw, said the executive committee agreed that the celebration will only be dubbed as “Araw ng Dabaw 2014”.

With or without the theme, he said the execu-

ecutive committee together with its private-partner Lafayette A. Lim have prepared activities which the people of Davao, as well as the local and foreign tourists will still enjoy this year’s celebration.

“Mao ni ang atong foundation day isip paghatag ug pasalamat sa mga nagpuyo diri sa davao ug garbo nato sila (The city’s founding anniversary will our way of thanking everyone),” Alejandre told Sun.Star Davao yesterday.

The opening ceremony of Araw ng Dabaw will be at the Quezon Park around 8 a.m. today, while the opening of the Araw ng Dabaw sports festival will kick off at 5 p.m. at the Davao City Recreation Center (formerly known as Almendras Gym).

Alejandre said the total budget for the Araw is pegged at P6,152,000.

Out of the P6-million budget, the share of the City Government is P1,695,500.

“Yung private-partner na ang bahala sa paghahanap ng sponsors (to fill in the remaining budget),” he said

Based on the EO 12, the official events this year are opening of Araw ng Dabaw and Thanksgiving mass, Mutya ng Dabaw, Banda Hudyaka, Sayawan sa Dan, Parada Dabawenyo, City Hall Employee’s Day, Dachea (Davao City hall Employees Association) Sportsfest, and Datu Bago Awards/Mayor’s Ball. ANC
