Max Collins shared success story in showbiz

KAPUSO actress Max Collins said she is more comfortable now in front of the camera and slowly learning her way in the entertainment business.

Sun.Star got a chance to interview the 21year-old actress at a recent event mounted by GMA-7 for the Panagbenga Festival in Baguio City.

Max recalled that a few years back, she hated seeing her works both in television and movies.

She said she hardly watched her shows and just waited for comments from viewers, critics and her co-actors.

But when she did “Pahiram ng Sandali” in 2012 with seasoned actors Lorna Tolentino, Christopher de Leon and Primetime King Dingdong Dantes, she learned that reviewing ones work will help assess what you’ve achieved as an actor and what more could be done in the succeeding projects.

“Mabusisi na ako ngayon sa eksena. Noon ayaw ko talagang pinapanood. Hindi ko kayang panoorin sarili ko. Na-conscious ako. Pero ngayon na-realized ko na hindi ako gagaling kung hindi ko papanoorin yung ginawa nawa ko,” Max said.

The actress added: “(Pahiram ng Sandali) Yun talaga ang pinaka mahirap at pinaka mabigat na role na ginawa ko. Since nce then, mas naging comfortable ako sa sarili rili ko, sa acting ko. Mas na-internalized ko na a din yung character.”

Since then, Max regularly attended nded acting workshops organized by the network work and started taking notes of comments she e got from mentors and directors.

She said it was quite a journey for r her. The actress didn’t expect that, one day, people eople will get to recognize her name and works. s.

The Kapuso star said that she now w believes that she’s now a much tougher cookie. okie. She knows how to handle critics and bashers in social media.

“Dati umiiyak ako lalo but now mas tanggap ko na, na trabaho ko yan. There’s ere’s pros and cons. I don’t want people to judge ge me as a person based sa characters ko. But sometimes ometimes that happens.”

“Hindi mo maiiwasan yun. Kahit na a it doesn’t really mean that much to me, kung ano man yung reception ng tao, basta okay ako sa nagawa kong trabaho. If you judge me as a person, you attack me as a person, ‘yun ang masakit.”

Max also learned how to balance her personal and professional life. She knows her value as a woman, an artist and as a person.

“Before nahirapan ako. I don’t know how to separate my career from personal life. I didn’t know how to meet in the middle. Now, I’ve come to a point na basta happy ako, I’m fine with that. This is a job and I’m happy doing it,” she said.

Now that her dreams are slowly turning into a reality, Max said she stays grounded because she knows nothing is permanent in the entertainment business.
