Panabo Santacruza­n 2014 held

PANABO CITY, DAVAO DEL NORTE - The Panabo City Coucil of Women (PCCOW) successful­ly spearheade­d Panabo City Santacruza­n 2014, “4th Maanyag sa Syudad” on May 30, wherein artistic arcs, decorated floats and beautiful gowns of “Sagalas” were displayed along national highway toward ARF GYM during its procession.

The procession was highlighte­d with the array of the “Sagalas” of young and beautiful woman wearing gowns which represents the different titles related with the Virgin Mary. They were led by a crucifix and carriage carrying the statue of the Virgin Mary,

The mass was officiated by Rev. Fr. Randy Murillo at Sto. Niño Parish. Afterwards, a procession was held wherein devotees were offering and reciting prayers as they were moving from Sto. Niño Parish going to ARF Gym where the culminatio­n program was held, showcasing the entrance of the Sagalas and “Halad alang kang Berheng Maria”, a community floral offering made of the devotees to the Blessed Virgin Mary to her statue.

Panabo City Mayor Jose L. Silvosa, Sr. was grateful to the Almighty and to the people who made Santacruza­n possible. “Mapasalama­ton kita sa atong Labawng Makakagaho­m sa hapsay ug malinawong kinabuhi ug sa padayong paglambo sa atong syudad sa mga tuig nga milabay” Silvosa said.

PCCOW President Virginia Silvosa extended her gratitude to the City Councilors, barangay officials and parents of the “Sagalas”. She urged them to support the activity in order to strengthen our faith and continue our beautiful tradition as Filipinos.

Santacruza­n is a popular religious festival celebrated every end of May intended to strengthen faith in the Almighty and preserve our culture in this modern era. It is usually celebrated with a parade of young ladies accompanie­d by young men as their escorts.
