DavSur police strengthens security
DIGOS CITY - Governor Claude Bautista has ordered the police to strengthen security in Davao del Sur, especially in Digos City after reports that high-profile criminals are in the city.
The governor was alarmed over the killings that took place in the past months, prompting him to order police to continue their investigations.
First to be killed was broadcaster Sammy ‘Palos’ Oliverio last May 23, followed by Mars Labajo, former executive assistant of former Governor Douglas Cagas last May 27.
These were followed immediately by another killing on May 28, where a computer technician was shot dead, who was later on found out to be a trustee of a former barangay official. According to Bautista, this is the first time this happened in Davao del Sur, and he wants the authorities to broaden their monitoring on the incidents.
“Akong gi-instruksyonan ang mga pulis nga dapat madakpan gyud ning mga perpetrators dinhi sa Digos, (I instructed the police that the perpetrators must be captured here in Digos,)” Bautista said.
The families of the victims are still crying for help and hope that their cases will not be neglected by the police. Last Friday, Oliverio was buried, but his live-in partner, Rowena Baylosis hopes that the investigation doesn’t get buried as well. According to Baylosis, her partner made no enemies and there was no reason for him to be killed.
These caused Bautista to monitor the investigations and strengthen security in the city.
“Naa mi tactical offensive nga gibuhat ug naa nay instruction ang provincial command to intensify manhunt operation against aning mga suspek ug i-intensify ang intelligence monitoring sa mga munisipyo dinhi sa Davao del Sur, (We are creating a tactical offensive and there are instructions from the provincial command to intensify manhunt operations agains the suspects, and to intensify the intelligence monitoring in municipalities in Davao del Sur,)” the governor said.
