THE alleged crime committed by a taxi driver against his passenger, a pastor, created a buzz at the official Facebook page of the Davao City Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC), having more than 3,000 likes, almost 5,000 shares and generating different opinions from netizens.

But netizens are split because of the number of years the taxi driver has been in that work.

Vicente Danao identified the suspect as Samson Diez, 53, a taxi driver for 19 years now.

According to Campos, Dizon took a taxi at the airport upon his arrival from Manila around 8 p.m. of June 7, going home in Central Park, Bangkal.

“In the taxi, he noticed na nahihil o sya and then, fell asleep. He woke up in the road papasok sa Hill Crest Subd, mga 1130pm na, lahat ng gamit nya, nawala.. bag, wallet, watch, cellfone, tablet , weddin g ring, glasses, shoes.. puro putik sa damit and eyes swollen,” Campos posted.

“We suspect na this is the same case sa Manila na pinatulog ang pasahero tapos i-hold up....kung simpleng tulog lang, dapat maramdaman man lang niya na hinila sya pababa sa taxi, pero total black out sya, nagising siya sa road na,” he said.

Campos said they immediately reported the incident to Talomo Police around 12:30 midnight of June 8.

Upon reporting the incident, two policemen tagged them along to the airport and check the logbook, where they were able to get the plate number of the taxi.

The police tracked the driver of the Krizia taxi with plate number LXE 374.

“Hopefully, ma solve to... first in Davao, warning po sa lahat ng sumasakay ng taxi... be safe everyone,” Campos posted.

Danao said the suspect is already under police custody.

“Andaming version ang taxi driver, pero which is which? This case has been happening in Metro Manila,” Danao told reporters.

According to airport’s logbook, he said the driver returned to the airport around 10 p.m.

“Hinahanap siya ng gabi. Immediately hinanap siya. Pero alam ng tropa umiikot siya,” Danao said. Netizen’s take Public Safety and Security Command Center head Retired General Francisco Villaroman posted two clips of the CCTV footage at the airport which gained various comments from netizens.

Netizen Nicee Lao said, “How come nibalik pa ang driver sa Airport after sa pastor na pasahero? Makita man pud ni sa cctv dba? Ang interval sa time? Imagine 17-19 yrs na sya na taxi driver? Ive heard na dili uniformed ang story sa pastor.. I hope mugawas ang tinuod na story..”

Another netizen Yami Bugoy commented, “The modus is a fast way of robbing a person. you don’t need much time to do the crime. dinhi sa manila, saun ra kau na buhaton sa mga drivers. saun ra ka idam-ok sa daplin nya mularga na daun nga murag way nahitabo. he said he passed out or whatever you call it and can’t even remember everything. If you were drugged or something, you will be helpless in less than a minute.” ANC
